We're partnering with a growing, forward-thinking firm that is looking to appoint a knowledgeable Tax Accountant to support a varied portfolio of SME and startup clients.

This position is ideal for a Tax Accountant with a strong background in UK taxation who enjoys building client relationships and delivering practical, commercial advice. While tax will be your primary focus, you'll also have the opportunity to support wider business advisory matters, making this a diverse and rewarding role.

This role is being recruited immediately, so candidates who are available immediately or on short notice will be prioritised.

What You'll Be Doing

As the tax specialist within the team, you'll work alongside colleagues to provide expert guidance that helps businesses remain compliant while making informed financial decisions.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing specialist advice on UK corporation tax, VAT and personal tax matters for owner-managed businesses.
  • Preparing and reviewing tax returns and calculations, ensuring all work is accurate and compliant with current legislation.
  • Identifying opportunities for clients to improve tax efficiency through effective planning and available reliefs.
  • Acting as a trusted point of contact for tax-related queries and providing clear, practical solutions.
  • Supporting startup and small business clients with wider financial and operational guidance, including advice on business structures and accounting processes.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in UK tax legislation and sharing relevant updates with clients and colleagues.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider accountancy team to deliver a seamless client experience.
  • Assisting new clients in selecting the most appropriate tax and business structure from the outset.
  • Helping to develop internal resources and best practice guidance to maintain a consistent, high-quality advisory service.
  • Contributing ideas to enhance internal processes and improve the overall client journey.

About You

  • Part-qualified or fully qualified ACA, ACCA, ATT or CTA status.
  • Previous experience supporting SMEs, startups or owner-managed businesses within an accountancy practice or advisory environment.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of UK corporation tax, VAT and personal taxation.
  • The confidence to discuss broader business matters beyond tax where required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics in a clear and client-friendly manner.
  • Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero or Sage, along with strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines.

What's on Offer?
  • Competitive salary of £55,000-£60,000, depending on experience.
  • Attractive benefits package.
  • Hybrid working to support a healthy work-life balance.
  • Excellent career progression within a growing and ambitious organisation.
  • The opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of SMEs and startups at different stages of growth.
  • A supportive culture that encourages innovation, continuous development and professional ownership.

If you're looking for a role where your tax expertise will be valued and where you can play an important part in supporting growing businesses, we'd love to hear from you.
